Empowering Tomorrow: Edo State Government Transforms Futures with Cutting-Edge Computer Training at JOOPSA.

In a significant step towards Governor Obaseki's finishing strong mantra and enhancing the efficiency and productivity of its public service delivery, the Edo State Government has rolled out a comprehensive computer training program at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) for the Edo workforce.   This visionary project aims to equip employees with vital digital skills, enhancing their competencies and positioning them at the forefront of technological advancement.

The computer program is ongoing at the State-of-The-Art of John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) Amphitheatre in Benin City.

Imuwahen Ajoonu, the Director General of JOOPSA, emphasized that democratizing learning is an important tool in carrying out the program, stating, "In today's fast-paced and technology-driven world, our public service delivery must not be left behind and this training and re-training is a vital part of a broader strategy of Governor Obaseki led administration to modernize our public-service delivery and the State government has shown remarkable foresight in recognizing the critical role of technology in today's world. By investing in the digital literacy of its workforce, Edo State is not just keeping pace with global trends but is also setting a standard for others to follow.”

She added.” In this digital era, where knowledge is power and technology is a catalyst for progress, Edo State's bold step is a reminder that with the right tools and training, the future holds limitless possibilities. The JOOPSA training program is more than an educational endeavor; it is a transformative experience, a journey towards a brighter, more empowered tomorrow”

In addition, JOOPSA is dedicated to providing top-notch training and re-training development opportunities for civil and public servants. This computer training program is a testament to our commitment to continuous learning. We believe that a well-trained Edo workforce is crucial to achieving the Make Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda."

The training program covers a broad curriculum, which includes basic computer appreciation skills, Microsoft Office applications, and practical sessions. These modules are expected to teach participants how to use digital tools to automate administrative tasks, thereby reducing the time spent on manual tasks and enhancing productivity in the workplace.

The training is expected to run in phases, ensuring that all civil and public servants in the state have the opportunity to participate. This phased approach will allow for continuous assessment and improvement of the training modules, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.

As stories of success and newfound confidence emerge from JOOPSA, one thing becomes clear: this initiative is not merely about acquiring skills; it is about igniting a passion for learning and empowering individuals to take charge of their destinies. The ripple effect of this training will be felt across communities, as empowered employees bring back knowledge and inspiration, driving positive change in their respective fields.

Participants in the program have expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their skills. Akhigbe Sharon, a nurse and public servant, remarked, "This training has been incredibly beneficial. It has not only improved my computer skills but also boosted my confidence in using technology to perform my duties more efficiently as Edo focuses on telemedicine."

As the training progresses, it is anticipated that the enhanced skills and competencies of the public service workforce will translate into more effective governance and improved service delivery, ultimately contributing to the overall development of Edo State.
