Institutional Reforms: JOOPSA Spearheads Executive Project Management Training and Change Management Training for Institutional Excellence.

In a bid to further strengthen institutional reforms in Edo state, John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) recently conducted training programs on Project Management Executive Class and Change Management Training simultaneously. These trainings aim to equip the Edo workforce with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage projects and navigate organizational changes.

 

The training which had in attendance the Edo State of Head of Service (HOS), Dr. Anthony Okungbowa was held in the JOOPSA Complex, Benin City.

 

The Edo State Head of Service (HOS) said that Governor Obaseki-led administration recognizes the importance of investing in employee training and development to stay competitive in today's dynamic business environment. The success of the Project Management Executive class and Change Management Training programs has encouraged the Edo state government to explore further opportunities for enhancing the Edo workforce skills and driving organizational excellence.

 

The Director-General of JOOPSA, Imuwahen Ajoonu said the Project Management Executive Class program focused on providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of project management principles and techniques for PS and Senior Directors from various MDAs. She added, that the training covered topics such as project planning, risk management, budgeting, and stakeholder management. Participants were exposed to real-life case studies and engaged in interactive sessions to enhance their practical skills.

 

The Change Management Training program aimed to equip employees with the skills to navigate organizational changes effectively. Participants selected from different MDAs and Local Government Councils are the Directors of Share Services (DSS), Change Agents, transformation team, and Graduate Developmental trainees. The participants learned about the various stages of the change process, strategies for overcoming resistance, and techniques for fostering a positive work culture during times of change. The training emphasized the importance of effective communication and employee engagement in driving successful change initiatives.

 

The training was led by industry experts with extensive experience in project management and change management. Participants had the opportunity to learn from their expertise and gain valuable insights into successful project execution and organizational behavioral change. The program received positive feedback from the participants, who expressed their newfound confidence in managing projects and delivering results.

 

The training featured interactive workshops, group discussions, and role-playing exercises to provide participants with hands-on experience managing change. Participants appreciated the practical approach of the training, which allowed them to apply the concepts learned to their specific work contexts.

 

The participant thanked the Edo state for availing this great opportunity of continuous retooling and retraining the Edo workforce on global standard training and they further said that the training programs have already started yielding positive results for EDSG. The program participants have demonstrated improved project management skills and a greater ability to adapt to organizational changes. The training has also fostered a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the company.
